The Yellowwood Tree (photo coming soon)

Directly in front of the Inn is one of the finest specimens of the Yellowwood tree to be found in New England, reaching over 50 feet in height.  Rare for this climate and locale, Yellowwoods generally grow in the south central US and are much smaller in their native habitat.

Our tree puts on a spectacular show in late spring when its blooms, reaching almost two feet in length, perfume the air and create “snow” flurries of petals across our gardens.  The blooms are a delicate white against vivid green leaves, and resemble wisteria in appearance.  Like an enormous bridal veil, the tree welcomes the many wedding parties and showers who frequent the Inn.

In the fall, the leaves turn a brilliant yellow adding to the beautiful spectrum of foliage found throughout the region.
